My Birthday for Nature

This time, I want to celebrate my birthday by planting trees and giving back to the nature that has given us so much resources!

How do we know that climate has changed?
And why tree planting is so important in the fight against climate change?

Those are my two most important questions about why temperature increases and devastating weather day by day, especially in some parts of Indonesia. Climate change encompasses rising average temperatures and extreme weather events, shifting wildlife populations and habitats, increasing seas, and other impacts. And trees are the ultimate carbon capture and storage machines. Like great carbon sinks, woods and forests absorb atmospheric carbon and lock it up for centuries. They do this through photosynthesis. And trees do more than capture carbon. They also fight the harsh effects of a changing climate. They can help; prevent flooding, reduce city temperature, reduce pollution, keep soil nutrient-rich (source: woodlandtrust.org.uk)

After nearly three years of uncertainty, I want to thank the earth and the universe for providing me with everything I want in life, and I've made it this far!. I came back realising that we deserve to be happy and fulfilled by accepting, thanking and forgiving ourselves to the max. So I let myself grow, and I am now ready to receive more opportunities that the universe offers. And I want you to grow and get more abundance as well.

On January 10, I will be celebrating my birthday. On this occasion, I'm inviting you, my dear friends whom I met personally or through the net, to donate some mangrove trees to the Demak coastal area. A few kilometres east of Semarang, there is an area called Bedono village in the Demak regency, which is currently problematic. The land area in Bedono village has decreased by about 25% in 20 years due to seawater abrasion. The soil erosion caused the land to sink for +/- 10 cm per year. Bedono village used to be a recreational area for the locals, and it was home to more than 200 families. Unfortunately, without proper measure, It is predicted that the whole area of Bedono village will completely disappear in the next 10-20 years.



Our donation will be a small gesture to ensure that Desa Bedono will stay above the water and remain home and a place to cherish for those 200+ families for decades to come. The detail of this project is stated as follow:

Funding period: January 1-8, 2022
Planting trees date: January 9, 2022
Minimum donation: 1 tree or equal to IDR 10,000 / € 0.62 / $ 0.70
Tree planters: Volunteers from Lindungihutan

Desa bedono merupakan wilayah di Kabupaten Demak, Jawa Tengah yang berada di Kawasan pesisir pantai. Wilayah ini memiliki potensi yang sangat prospektif di bidang perikanan, budidaya hasil laut, dan wisata bahari. Meskipun begitu, laut demak memiliki risiko daya rusak yang besar. Dengan potensi kenaikan air laut mencapai 3 cm/tahun dan penurunan muka tanah mencapai 25 cm/tahun, daratan Demak terancam tenggelam dalam 10-20 tahun dan sudah menenggelamkan kurang lebih 200 rumah penduduk, jika tidak ada tindakan konservasi dan restorasi, serta peraturan yang mencegah berlanjutnya tindakan perusakan lingkungan. Untuk itu, LindungiHutan melalui kampanye alam akan melakukan penanaman pohon Mangrove Rhizophora yang dapat mengendapkan lumpur di akar-akar pohon bakau sehingga mencegah terjadinya intrusi air laut ke daratan. Selain itu, Mangrove Rhizophora memiliki akar yang dapat mempercepat penguraian limbah organik dan limbah kimia yang dapat mencemari laut.
