Celebrating the Wedding of Marsha & Shafira

At its heart, a wedding is a celebration of love, family, and the beginning of a new generation. As we begin this new chapter, we want our celebration to reflect a kind of love that goes beyond us: love for the people around us and love for the earth that will hold the generations after us.

Weddings can be beautiful, but they can also produce significant waste, including flower boards and floral arrangements that are often displayed only for a short time before being discarded.

For this reason, we will not be accepting any kind of flower boards, wreaths, or floral arrangements and instead invite our family, friends, and guests to support something that can continue to grow beyond our wedding day.

Together with LindungiHutan, we created a tree-planting campaign in the coastal area of Kelapapati Village, Bengkalis Regency, Riau. We chose Riau because environmental restoration in the province remains urgent. In 2024, Riau recorded the largest net deforestation area among Indonesian provinces, with 29,702.1 hectares of net deforestation out of Indonesia’s total 175.4 thousand hectares that year. Global Forest Watch also records that Riau lost around 4.3 million hectares of tree cover from 2001 to 2024, equivalent to around 55% of its 2000 tree cover area.

Each tree donated through this campaign will be planted with the support of local farmers, so the impact goes beyond coastal ecosystem restoration and also supports the local economy. As a token of recognition, each contributor will receive a donation certificate.

Selama 13 tahun, Kelompok Paghet Seghagah telah melakukan rehabilitasi di zona 2, dan setelah mendapatkan hasil sedimentasi, KPS akan melakukan rehabilitasi di zona 1 (Mangrove aviciena dan Mangrove soneratia) sebagai garda terdepan untuk menahan pukulan gelombang yg mengakibatkan terjadinya pengikisan dan abrasi pantai.
Untuk melakukan penanaman di zona 1, di butuhkan beberapa pendukung seperti pemecah gelombang yang terbuat dari kayu pancang serta di lapisi dengan waring pada sisi luarnya. Dengan pola jarak berumpun yang di bentengi dengan (pancang dan waring) akan menghasilkan gelombang yang kecil dan melemah sampai ke mangrove yang di tanam sehingga kondisi mangrove yang di tanam aman dari pukulan gelombang.
